Here's wishing a very Happy Birthday to Supremes singer Mary Wilson , who turns 70 today, March 6. Wilson was not only one of the founders of the legendary Motown vocal group but also had the longest tenure of any Supremes member.
Speaking recently with ABC News Radio about her birthday, Wilson declared, "I have no idea where the time has gone. They say time flies when you're having fun. I guess I've had fun."
As for how she's planning to celebrate, Mary revealed that some of her friends are throwing her "a pretty large party in Los Angeles." She added that she'd invited some of her "very dear friends," including such fellow singers as Natalie Cole , Rita Coolidge and Brenda Russell , to help her mark the milestone.
Wilson continues to tour as a solo artist, and she revealed to ABC News Radio that she has a new album titled Life's Been Good to Me that she expects to be released in the coming weeks. Mary said the record would include two songs that currently are available for purchase as digital singles, the title track and a Mother's Day-themed song called "Darling Mother (Johnnie Mae)." Of the latter track, which is a touching tribute to her own mom, Wilson said, "I think it's one of the best recordings I've ever done in my life."
Wilson also told ABC News Radio that she is working on setting up her own Las Vegas residency. She explained, " Life's Been Good to Me is definitely a great title for what's going on in my life [because] life has been good. It's not been easy all the time, but it's definitely been good, and things are still happening."
According to her official website , Wilson currently has a few confirmed Florida concerts on her tour schedule, including shows this Friday in Boca Raton, Saturday in Boynton Beach and Sunday in Delray Beach.
