Jeff Beck is undergoing some medical treatment for a back ailment that has forced him to cancel a European tour leg, which was supposed to have kicked off Friday, June 27, in Austria.
A statement from the guitar legend's rep explains, "After touring and performing nearly non-stop since late last year, Jeff sought medical advice for a severe back condition and will now undertake a short hospital procedure. He has been medically advised to take a six-week break."
The message adds that Beck, who celebrated his 70th birthday on Tuesday, "will be fully recharged and ready to rock" by the time his previously announced U.S. joint tour with ZZ Top launches on August 8 in Missoula, Montana. The trek currently is plotted out through a September 13 show in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
