LANSING (WKZO) -- Progress is being noted in Lansing on state budget negotiations. Governor Rick Snyder has come to an agreement with the Republican leaders of the House and Senate on a budget target of 10.18-billion dollars for the next fiscal year.

Higher education spending will be going up by 5.9-percent for higher education, slightly lower than the 6.1-percent increase sought by Snyder. Lawmakers adjourned for the week Thursday without wrapping up work, but note the next fiscal year doesn't start until October 1st.
