GlaxoSmithKline to pay Michigan 2.6-million dollars in settlement

LANSING (WKZO) Michigan will receive 2.6-million dollars from drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline as part of a 105-million dollar settlement to resolve allegations the company unlawfully promoted several medications.

Attorney General Bill Schuette said patients should come before profits, and added people shouldn't have to wonder if financial incentives are influencing their medical care. GSK misrepresented the uses and qualities of the asthma drug Advair and anti-depressants Paxil and Wellbutrin, according to the multi-state settlement.
