LANSING, MI (WTVB) - A new poll is out on Michigan’s major state races this year. A new Public Policy Polling survey suggests that Mark Schauer and Rick Snyder are in a dead heat for governor at 40%, Gary Peters is about 5% ahead of Terri Lynn Land in the U.S. Senate race and Kalamazoo’s Mark Totten is just 2% behind Incumbent Attorney General Bill Schutte.
A closer look at the numbers also shows that many of those polled don’t know much about the Democrats. More of them know the Republicans and have an unfavorable opinion, and that the negative ads Democrats are running against Rick Snyder seem to be having an impact.
Analyists say whether the poll accurately reflects what voters will actually do when they turn up at the polling place in November remains an open question.
