Congressman Levin responds to State of the Union Address

U.S. House Representative Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak)
U.S. House Representative Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak)

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO) -- Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin of Michigan said that in the State of the Union Address the President spoke forcefully about the value of the unemployed millions whose insurance has been cut off.  Congressman Levin says he supports the President's statement that there is an urgent need for Congress to re-start the federal unemployment insurance program that Levin calls a vital lifeline during their job search.

Levin has been a vocal supporter of reinstating long-term insurance benefits to those who have lost that benefit since December 28th.  He brought an unemployed woman from Roseville as his guest to Tuesday night's speech as illustration of the human toll he said this loss is taking.
