ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons will be the guest star on the first episode of the latest season of Daryl Hall 's Live from Daryl's House performance series, which premieres online Wednesday at LFDH.com and then gets its TV debut February 6 at 11 p.m. ET on the Palladia high-def network.
The new episode will feature Gibbons and Hall teaming up on a couple of ZZ Top classics and a few Hall & Oates tunes, as well as a selection of covers. Among songs from ZZ Top's catalog performed on the show are the hits "La Grange" and "Sharp Dressed Man," plus renditions of Sam & Dave 's "I Thank You" and The Nightcaps ' "Thunderbird." Gibbons and Hall also collaborate on the Hall & Oates gems "Bank on Your Love" and "Love You Like a Brother," as well as on a cover of "Kiko," a 1963 instrumental by late soul-jazz keyboard player Jimmy McGriff .
"Playing Live from Daryl's House is a regular, down-to-earth, big bash," says Gibbons in a statement. "Good groovin' to the core."
Adds Hall, "Being in a room with Billy Gibbons is like dipping your toe into the deep wellspring of Texas rock, blues and soul."
Live from Daryl's House started as an online-only series in 2007 before recently expanding to television. Each episode features the Hall & Oates frontman jamming with a different special guest. While most shows in previous seasons were taped at Hall's country home in Millerton, New York, the new episodes are being shot at a renovated venue in nearby Pawling.
