DETROIT (WKZO) -- The new CEO of General Motors is set to earn 60-percent more this year than her predecessor did last year.

The automaker announced Monday that Mary Barra's compensation will be roughly 14.4-million dollars, and put out the details in response to criticism that she was underpaid because she's a woman. Former CEO Dan Akerson was paid nine-million last year, with his pay capped during the time the U.S. Treasury Department owned part of the automaker.

Barra is being paid 1.6-million in salary, nearly three-million in short term stock incentives and ten-million dollars in what the automaker calls "long-term compensation."
