LANSING, MI (WTVB) - A group seeking to increase the minimum wage in Michigan is trying to get 258,000 signatures on a petition and submit it to the Secretary of State's Office. The "Raise Michigan" group is planning on submitting the outline of the petition today. The new wage would be implemented over a three year period and would also be indexed for inflation. The measure also calls for increasing the salaries of those who rely on tips such as bartenders and waitresses. They would see 85-cents a year increases until their wage reaches nine-dollars-50-cents per hour.
