LANSING (WKZO) -- It was a safer year for hunters in 2013 than 2012. The Department of Natural Resources has released the final tally on hunting incidents, with nine total and one fatality.
In 2012, there were 15 hunting incidents and one fatality reported. Six of the nine last year were self-inflicted firearm injuries.
DNR Lieutenant Andrew Turner credited hunter education classes for a marked decline in hunting incidents since 2007.
