UNDATED (WHTC) -- This winter has been pretty brutal and heating costs are going up but the Michigan Public Service Commission says there are ways that people of most income levels can get a little help with their heating costs. Judy Palnau, speaking for the Commission, says there’s a very easy way to get the information just dial 2-1-1. She says that the 2-1-1 staff knows what grants and programs are available. They can also direct you to local agencies where you may be able to get some help. The definition of low income is defined by the program so 2-1-1 will put you in touch with the right agency. Seniors cannot be shut off during the heating season, which runs from November 1 through March 31st.
