DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors has been replaced as the second largest automobile company in the world.

Volkswagen has announced that it sold 9.73-million vehicles worldwide in 2013 beating GM by approximately two-hundred thousand vehicles.  Volkswagen's sales were helped by their heavy-duty truck division.

Toyota announced earlier this month sales of 9.98-million cars and trucks worldwide making them the world's largest automaker for the second consecutive year.
