The Moody Blues have just launched a new fall tour that will see the band march across the U.S. from the Midwest to California.  It's the veteran British rockers' first visit to the country since March, when they played a series of shows in Southern cities and hosted their first-ever cruise.

The trek will include nearly 30 dates and will stop in cities in 16 states.  "We're gettin' around," singer/guitarist Justin Hayward tells ABC News Radio.  He adds that he's particularly looking forward to returning to the West Coast, "'cause I don't think we've been that way for a while."

As for what fans can expect can expect to hear at the new shows, Hayward reports that the set list will be pretty similar the group played during its last trip to the U.S., with a few tweaks.  "We're doing a couple of songs that we haven't done," he notes.  "We're doing a few different things and swapping around songs every night, so that's quite interesting."

The 66-year-old rocker says fans coming out to see The Moody Blues will not only be treated to a great show but will get to watch a very harmonious group of musicians.

"I think this incarnation of The Moody Blues is certainly the happiest and the most enjoyable that me, [drummer] Graeme [ Edge ] and [singer/bassist] John [ Lodge ] have ever been part of," Hayward maintains.

The Moodies' current tour leg is mapped out through November 2 show in Rancho Mirage, California.  And while the trek may have just gotten under way, the band already has announced initial dates for a 2014 U.S. outing.  Those performances all will take place in New Jersey in early March. And, as previously reported, the group's second annual Moody Blues Cruise is scheduled to take place April 2-7 and will feature special guest Roger Daltrey of The Who .
