Talk about "Bad Medicine" -- following an emergency appendectomy last week, Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres is now back in the hospital for something completely different, and equally as serious.
According to a posting on Bon Jovi's website, Tico was rushed to the hospital with severe abdominal pain, and now must undergo gall bladder surgery. However, the note says that he's expected to return to the road with Bon Jovi "in the very near future."
In a statment, Jon Bon Jovi said, "Tico Torres has been the heart and soul of our band since we started 30 years ago. He’s also one tough SOB and we look forward to him again pounding away brilliantly at the drums on the remainder of this and future tours." Until Tico can return to the stage, New Jersey drummer Rich Scannella will fill in for him.
The posting also included a personal message from Tico, in which he says, "I would like to say a quick Thank You to all of you who have kept me in your thoughts thus far. There is nothing that can prepare one for a medical emergency but I have been taken especially good care of and would again like to thank all my doctors and health care professionals."
He also says that the fans are in "good hands" with Scanella, and adds, "I will be there in spirit and back on stage soon."
The band is currently touring in South America.
