Bon Jovi 's show Tuesday night in Mexico City was cancelled at the last minute when drummer Tico Torres was rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy.

A note posted on the band's website says the gig, scheduled for Mexico City's Foro Sol stadium, will be rescheduled at a later date.  No word on the status of future shows.  Bon Jovi has five more gigs on the schedule for the Latin American leg of its tour including two more this week -- one in Santiago, Chile and another outside Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The band is set to return to North American for shows in the U.S. and Canada begining October 2.

The website GossipExtra.com reports that the 59-year-old drummer experienced abdominal pains just before the band members were set to head from their hotel to the venue.  “He was in serious pain,” the site quotes a source as saying. “They rushed him to the hospital by ambulance and he had emergency surgery. The good thing is his appendix didn’t burst.”

Torres is expected to be in the hopsital at least through the weekend, according to the website.
