ANN ARBOR, MI (WTVB) - The finger is pointing at Washington. Consumers' outlook on the economy is the least optimistic it's been in almost a year.  Today's survey from Thomson Reuters and the University of Michigan shows the government shutdown shook many Americans’ confidence in the economic future of the U.S.

The number of respondents who mentioned negative feelings about the federal government when surveyed was the highest it's been in more than 50 years of the survey.
