DETROIT (WKZO) -- Hearings are underway through Wednesday in Detroit’s bankruptcy case. The city’s bid to win federal bankruptcy court protection from its creditors has reportedly entered a critical phase.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes is holding two days of hearings regarding legal issues surrounding the filing. The hearings are in preparation for an eligibility trial scheduled to begin October 23rd.
hodes will ultimately determine whether Detroit is eligible for bankruptcy before the city can begin to shed billions of dollars in debts.
