The Tigers are heading to the American League Championship Series for the third year in a row as they shut out the A's 3-0 last night in Oakland to take their best-of-five AL Division Series three games to two. Justin Verlander surrendered just two hits and walked one batter while striking out ten in eight scoreless innings. Joaquin Benoit gave up a two out double, then hit a batter before getting the final out to end the game. Miguel Cabrera provided all the offense Detroit would need, hitting a two-homer in the fourth inning and Victor Martinez scored an insurance run in the sixth on Omar Infante fielder's choice RBI. The Tigers will take on Boston in Game One of the ALCS tomorrow night at Fenway Park.
