MACKINAC CITY, MI (WTVB) - A Petoskey man survived a 70-foot jump from the Mackinac Bridge on Wednesday.  According to U.S. Coast Guard officials, the 59-year-old man was rescued roughly an hour after plunging into the 40-degree water.  He was transported to the Mackinac Straits Medical Center, where his condition is unknown.

The Mackinac Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere and has been the site of a number of suicide attempts since it opened in 1957.
