Eddie Van Halen will give a rare interview on Friday's episode of CNN's Piers Morgan Live , which will air at 9 p.m. ET, as well as at midnight and 3 a.m. the following morning. The guitar legend reports on his Twitter feed that he will join LL Cool J to discuss their collaborations that are featured on the hip-hop star's new album, Authentic , which hit stores on Tuesday.
As previously reported, Van Halen lends his talents to a pair of tunes on the record, "We're the Greatest" and "Not Leaving You Tonight," with the latter track also featuring indie-pop act Fitz and the Tantrums .
In a recent interview with Guitar World , Eddie discussed his experience working on Authentic while offering some high praise for LL Cool J. "The thought of me playing guitar to hip-hop was definitely left of center, but I was intrigued and I agreed to meet and listen to what he had," says Van Halen about how he felt when the rapper first asked him to contribute to the album. "I was not only inspired by the songs I heard, but LL's enthusiasm, his down-to-earth personality [and] the freedom he gave me to co-create."
Van Halen and his band currently have one U.S. tour date on their schedule -- a July 25 appearance at the Rock USA festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The rockers also have four late-June shows in Japan.
