Bad news for Aerosmith fans: It looks like you'll have one less chance to see the band in concert this summer. The rock legends had been tapped to headline the LivingSocial website's inaugural Backyard Festival on July 13 on Randall's Island in New York City, but the event has been canceled.
An announcement on LivingSocial.com explains that the decision to pull the plug on the fest came after the New York City Parks Department inspected the conditions of the event site at Randall's Island Park. Earlier this month, the same park hosted the Governors Ball Music Festival, during which the grounds were damaged by a heavy storm.
LivingSocial says it will inform concertgoers if there's "any possibility to reschedule the festival." The website also reports that all people who purchased tickets for the event "should have received a refund." Ticketholders who haven't been notified about their refund can contact email@example.com.
The Backyard Festival also was to have featured performances by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts , indie rockers Yeasayer and a number of other groups. In addition, the event also would have offered bocce ball, slides, see-saws, photo booths, art and crafts, swing sets, Giant Twister and various other games and activities.
