Tonight, founding Foreigner singer Lou Gramm will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside his ex-band mate and writing partner, guitarist Mick Jones .  The former collaborators will be welcomed into the hall along with Aerosmith 's Steven Tyler & Joe Perry , Eagles collaborator JD Souther and pop-rock hit machine Holly Knight .

Gramm tells ABC News Radio that being acknowledged by the Songwriters Hall of Fame is "an incredible honor" for him.  He notes that it's especially meaningful knowing that such classic composers as Burt Bacharach & Hal David and Paul Williams have preceded Jones and him onto the hall.  "I know we'll be in real good company," Lou adds.

Gramm and Jones, of course, are responsible for a pretty impressive catalog of hits themselves.  Among the many classic tunes they co-wrote are "Cold as Ice," "Long, Long Way from Home," "Hot Blooded," "Double Vision," "Head Games" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You."

Gramm departed Foreigner back in 2003, and did not leave on the best of terms with Jones, who continues to lead a current incarnation of the group.  However, Lou tells ABC News Radio that he reconnected with his ex-band mate after finding out about their Hall of Fame induction, revealing that the two are planning to perform together at the ceremony.

"I called him for the first time in 10 years and congratulated him," he says.  "[We] didn't have a long conversation but it was a friendly conversation…You know, I think it's important that we bury the hatchet."

The 44th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala takes place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in in New York City.  Besides the evening's inductees, a number of other luminaries will be honored with special awards, including Motown founder Berry Gordy , Elton John and his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin .  Also, a variety of stars who will be on hand to serve as either performers or presenters, including Billy Joel , Sting , Smokey Robinson , Peter Asher , Patty Smyth , Matchbox Twenty 's Rob Thomas , Alison Krauss and Nickelback 's Chad Kroeger .
