Lynyrd Skynyrd 's "Sweet Home Alabama" is one of the great Southern rock anthems of all time, and now the tune has achieved an impressive milestone.  Yahoo! Music's Chart Watch blog reports that, as of this week, the track has been downloaded more than 3 million times, paid downloads that is.  The song was released in 1974, which makes it the oldest tune to ever hit the 3 million mark in digital sales.

In fact, only one other song released during the 1970s has surpassed the 3 million paid-downloads plateau, the 1975 Queen classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," which currently has been downloaded 3,362,000 times.
