New evaluation system proposed for teachers in Michigan

LANSING, MI (WTVB) - The grade givers would be graded themselves and so would their bosses. Teachers in Michigan could have a new evaluation system measuring how effective they are in the classroom.  The Michigan Council for Educator Effectiveness sent their recommendations to Governor Rick Snyder, the Michigan Legislature and the State Board of Education after 18-months of work.

The plan calls for not only teachers but superintendents, principals and assistant principals to be graded.  They would receive a "professional", provisional' or "ineffective rating under the system.  Those receiving an ineffective rating for two consecutive years could lose their job.
