DETROIT (WKZO) -- Former Thaddeus McCotter aide Mary Turnball was sentenced Tuesday to two years probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

Turnball pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit a legal act in an illegal manner and one count of falsely signing and nominating a petition as circulator while working for the former U.S. Representative.  Authorities say she asked someone to sign their name as a petition circulator, although that person didn't collect the names.

McCotter didn't make the 2012 ballot after a staff member submitted bogus petition signatures.  Turnball was also ordered to pay over 1,400-dollars in fines and court costs.
