Elton John ’s insurance company will pay out a sizable sum of money to cover the postponement/cancellation of several European tour dates due to his battle with appendicitis.
Elton won’t be able to make up some of the performances because they were scheduled for summer festivals, so fans who were hoping to see him there will receive refunds.
According to the U.K.’s Daily Mirror , Elton's insurance company will fork over as much as 10 million British pounds -- more than 15 million American dollars -- to promoters to cover lost revenue. A source says, “Artists have insurance for the promoters’ liability. Elton is insured so they get their money back or they can have another concert. It has all been taken care of and will be rescheduled. No promoter will be out of pocket.”
The source adds, “Elton even spoke to some of the festival promoters to apologize because he has been working with them for so long.”
Elton is expected to resume touring in early September, after he recovers from his upcoming surgery.
