Prince , for all of his musical genius, revealed that he doesn't own a cell phone in the August issue of V magazine .
When asked about which smartphone he owns, the iconic entertainer, who graces the black-and-white cover, told the mag , "Are you serious? Hell, no." He then playfully mimicked a high-voiced woman, saying, "Where is my phone? Can you call my phone? Oh, I can't find it."
Prince even asks all concertgoers not to take their phones out of their pockets during his shows, saying at the end of the night, "Thank each and every one of you for leaving your cell phones in your pocket. I can't see your face when you've got technology in front of it."
The singer, who has long placed a premium on privacy, isn't to be found on social networking sites -- we checked -- and you won't even find a daily news section on his recently re-launched website .
But if Prince's use of technology hasn't evolved, his music has. He recently teamed with the all-female band, 3rd Eye Girl , for the new song "Fixurlifeup." Prince told V , "I'm trying to get these women's careers started, because they're all so talented. It's not even about me anymore."
As far as how he feels about music now, he explained, "This music changes you. These people are not being satisfied elsewhere by musicians, you feel what I'm saying? It's no disrespect to anyone else, because we're not checking for them. But we don't lip sync. We ain't got time for it."
The August issue of V magazine, containing the full interview, is available on newsstands now.
