LANSING (WKZO) -- An investigation into the use of state of Michigan planes by Michigan State University is underway.

The "Lansing State Journal" reports the Federal Aviation Administration is starting a probe into the university's use of the planes, and also reports MSU coaches are using the taxpayer-funded planes for recruiting trips.  A review of flight logs found basketball coach Tom Izzo used the planes on average once a month, and football coach Mark Dantonio has taken 47 flights in the past five years.

MSU pays for the use of the planes with money from the athletics department budget.
