Paul McCartney clearly appreciates the musical talents of his friend Eric Clapton , with whom he's collaborated numerous times over the years, but he also apparently considers the guitar legend a font of wisdom. In the latest installment of the "You Gave Me the Answer" feature on McCartney's official website, the former Beatles star was asked by a fan, "What is the most inspirational thing someone has ever said to you?" Maccarevealed that it was something Clapton once said to him.
Sir Paul recalled, "I once heard someone say a certain major star was very humble. Eric Clapton said, 'The great ones usually are.'"
McCartney and Clapton's shared musical history includes guest appearances on each other's latest studio albums: Paul lent his vocal and bass talents to a version of the jazz standard "All of Me" on Eric's 2013 release Old Sock , while Clapton played guitar on the new song "My Valentine" that was featured on McCartney's 2012 project, Kisses on the Bottom collection.
McCartney begins a new North American leg of his Out There World Tour on July 7 in Ottawa, Canada.
