LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Christmas may be a time of joy, sharing and family, but it’s a public health headache. You may think you are traveling home to exchange presents, but they see it as you traveling great distances to exchange germs.
Angela Minicuci with the Michigan Department of Community Health says they have seen nearly double the number of confirmed flu cases this year than last, and that’s why it’s a good idea to get your flu shot now. She says one goal is to protect adults, the other is to protect infants who are too young to be inoculated. It takes two weeks for full immunity, but you will have some immunity if you get a shot next week.
