Snyder launches largest blight removal effort in Michigan history

LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Snyder and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority are kicking off what they're calling the largest blight removal effort in state history.  In June, Snyder announced the U.S. Treasury-approved program, which allows MSHDA to use 100-million dollars from the Hardest Hit Fund to tear down abandoned buildings.

Last week, grants were announced for Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint, Saginaw and Pontiac.  The first demolition began Monday near the campus of the University of Detroit-Mercy.
