Mark Knopfler will pay a brief visit to the U.S. this fall in conjunction with the stateside release of his latest studio album, Privateering . The ex- Dire Straits frontman will play four concerts on the West Coast, beginning with an October 23 show in Long Beach, California, and wrapping up with an October 27 gig in Oakland, California.

Privateering will be released on September 10, and marks the start of a new deal Knopfler signed with Universal Music Group's Verve Records label. The singer/guitarist worked with his longtime solo band on the album, including former Dire Straits keyboardist Guy Fletcher . Privateering is Mark's first two-disc studio effort, and also includes contributions from Fabulous Thunderbirds singer/harmonica player Kim Wilson and acclaimed country musicians Paul Franklin and Tim O'Brien .
