Humble Pie , the U.K. boogie band whose lineup featured ex- Small Faces frontman Steve Marriott and a young Peter Frampton , achieved its first U.S. success with 1971's Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore , a two-disc concert album that reached #21 on the Billboard 200.  The double LP, which also was the group's gold-certified record, was culled from shows that Humble Pie played during a two-night stand in May 1971 at New York City's Fillmore East.

Now, an expanded, four-CD version of the album, featuring full performances from Humble Pie's four concerts during its '71 Fillmore engagement, is set to be released on October 29.  Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore -- The Complete Recordings was co-produced by Frampton and founding Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley , and contains 15 previously unreleased tracks along with the seven songs that appeared on the original release.

The four shows documented in the collection were remixed by engineer Ashley Shepherd , but appear without any editing or resequencing.

"My God, it just took my breath away," Shirley says about hearing Performance 's new mixes.  "You feel like you're sitting in the Fillmore East, five or six rows back."

The drummer adds that he was impressed by how great late Humble Pie frontman Marriott sounds on the album.  "All four shows caught Steve at the absolute zenith of his powers," he declares.  "It's astonishing."

Frampton, meanwhile, gushes about getting the chance to hear multiple renditions of the tunes the band played at the shows. "It's like a breath of fresh air after listening to one particular version," he notes.  "The beauty of it is that you get three other completely different performances of most of the songs."
