A new documentary about Levon Helm will be screened during a special edition of the Midnight Ramble series of performances held at the late Band singer/drummer's home studio in Woodstock, New York. Ain't in It for My Health: A Film About Levon Helm takes a candid look at the influential roots rocker, who died in April 2013 at age 71 after a battle with cancer.
The sold-out event will feature a performance by several of Helm's band members, as well as a Q&A about the movie and a barbecue.
Directed by Jacob Hatley , Ain't in It for My Health was shot over a two-year-plus period around the time of the release of Helm's Grammy-winning 2007 solo album, Dirt Farmer . The film includes footage of Levon at home as well as in concert.
The movie also is scheduled to open in select theaters around the U.S. in the coming weeks, and is expected to be made available to video-on-demand outlets sometime this summer.
