Kinks frontman Ray Davies delves into his lifelong fascination with American culture in a new book that's scheduled to be published in October.  In Americana , the 68-year-old singer/songwriter discusses what drew him as a child to the music, movies and other aspects of the U.S., and shares his many positive and negative experiences in the country.

The 240-page memoir will include recollections of The Kinks' first stateside trek and the group's subsequent four-year ban from touring in the U.S.  It also will feature Ray's account of the 2004 shooting incident during a robbery that almost claimed his life while he was living in New Orleans.  In addition, Americana will include a photo section featuring images from Davies' and The Kinks' private archives.
