Peter Frampton says he's looking forward to his upcoming collaboration with the Cincinnati Ballet , which is scheduled to take place on April 26 and 27, 2013, at the city's Aronoff Center for the Arts.  The performances will include three choreographed segments, the first two set to some of the guitar great's classic tunes and the third featuring a new composition that Frampton is composing with his frequent songwriting partner Gordon Kennedy .  The veteran rocker and his band be on hand to play the music alongside the dancers.

In a new interview with Billboard , Frampton explains, "We've been working on [the new piece] for the last month, and we're about three-quarters of the way through the 20 minutes."

While the project may seem to some fans like an unusual pairing, the guitarist points out, "I love dance.  I love ballet.  All my girls went through that, so, yeah, I'm very excited about it."

Frampton adds that one of the things that appeals to him about the collaboration is that he enjoys working outside of his  comfort zone.

"I like things to scare me a little," he admits.  "It's always good to do stuff that just [pushes] the envelope for you.  I'm just looking to stretch myself."

Frampton says he also hopes to eventually try his hand at scoring films too.

Meanwhile, Frampton reveals to Billboard that the ballet event will be filmed, and that other dance companies also may perform the piece.  In addition, he reports that he may put out the music he's creating for the project as part of an EP that will be released sometime this spring.

First up for Frampton, though, will be the pair of the recently announced live releases featuring performances from his 35th anniversary Frampton Comes Alive! tours of 2011 and 2012.  The FCA! 35 Tour: An Evening with Peter Frampton DVD and Blu-ray and the Best of FCA! 35 Tour three-CD set hit stores on November 13.
