LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Rick Snyder has put his veto pen to controversial gun legislation.  Specifically, he's vetoed a measure that would have allowed concealed carry of handguns in schools and other areas that are currently known as gun-free zones.

The governor did give the green light to two other pieces of legislation.  One is meant to streamline the process for handgun purchases.  Another eliminates restrictions on interstate rifle and shotgun transactions to states sharing a border with Michigan.

As for the concealed carry bill, Snyder says he didn't like parts of it to begin with and thought the bill needed more careful review, especially in light of Friday's shooting in Connecticut.
