As if 12.12.12 -- The Concert for Sandy Relief didn't already feature enough star power, organizers have announced that The Rolling Stones have joined the awe-inspiring lineup for the show, which takes place this Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  As previously reported, the charity event's bill also includes Paul McCartney , The Who , Eric Clapton , Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band , Roger Waters , Billy Joel , Bon Jovi , Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder , among others.

The concert will air live event on a wide variety of TV stations around the world and also will stream on select websites.  In addition, a free simulcast of the show will be held in select movie theaters in the states most severely affected by the storm -- New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Proceeds from the 12.12.12 concert will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which is providing money, materials and information to charitable organizations in the northeastern U.S. that are helping assist the families and areas hit hardest by Sandy.

A joint statement from the producers of the event reads, " 12.12.12 will be the largest concert event to ever hit the stage at Madison Square Garden, featuring the biggest names in music and the world's leading entertainers.  It was important to us that everyone possible around the world have the ability to watch the show through multiple platforms, networks and simulcasts and donate to this important cause."
