Add the following items to your grocery list:

3 Cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ tsp. of salt (Sea Salt is good, too)

1 ½ TB. of baking powder (1 TB. plus 1 ½ tsp.)

3 TB. of sugar

½ tsp. of oregano or basil or cracked rosemary (optional)

1 12oz. bottle of beer, room temperature

Topping:

½ stick of butter (1/4 Cup), melted

¼ tsp. granulated garlic powder, optional

Preheat your oven to 350°

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar (and herbs if desired).

Add the beer and stir until blended.

Put in a lightly-greased loaf pan (5 x 9 or 4 ½ x 8 ½) and bake for 1 hour.

Combine the butter (and garlic if desired)

Remove the bread from the oven.

Pour the butter mixture over the top.

Allow the bread to rest in the pan for 10 – 15 minutes before removing. The bread is easier to slice when cool.
