Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez is suspended for the remainder of this season, the postseason, and all of the 2014 season.
Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig announced that Rodriguez had violated the league’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and Basic Agreement through his alleged use of prohibited performance-enhancing substances over several years. Add to that, Rodriguez allegedly attempted to cover up such use and obstruct an investigation into the allegations.
The suspension goes into effect this Thursday but will be stayed until the completion of any appeal Rodriguez may file.
