I know this time of the year, everyone is talking about the Super Bowl: the teams, who is favored, how will the halftime show be and of course, all of the commercials!
But let's not forget the NHL All-Star game!

Maybe I am partial to the sport because I grew up with it.  My dad is the best goalie I know! 

And, he use to take us to the University of Michigan hockey games when we were little kids.  Of course, back then I would sleep through the games and wake up to cheer for the Zamboni and eat a Snickers!

In high school, the Detroit Red Wings became a common ground for my dad and I.  We were able to watch the games together and have intelligent conversation (or really awful arguments) about the games we were watching.  Even when I went to college, if something happened during the game, I was on the phone calling to see if he saw it too! 

So, it's this time of the year, I like to remember the NHL All Star game, and look forward to watching it!  And not only the game itself but the skills competition as well.

We have two of our own Detroit Red Wings in the game to root for:

Pavel Datsyuk

and Jimmy Howard

Of course, this game really has no losers, but I will be rooting for our boys from Detroit and hoping that their team comes out ahead!

Skills Competition is on Saturday at 7p
All Star game is Sunday at 4p
