The Farm Aid concerts have been around since the mid 1980's. They were the brainchild of Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp to help farmers of the day who were losing their farms to the banks. Well, the farm crisis may be on the back burner these days but the Farm Aid concerts keep rolling. This years edition will take place at the Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center in upstate New York on September 21st.
Ticket pre sales for Farm Aid members start today and general tickets go on sale June 28th. Mellencamp, Nelson, Neil Young and Dave Matthews are among the headliners announced. Many more bands will be added later.
The charity has brought in more than 43 million dollars over the years to fund programs supporting family-farms and promote the food they grow
