  • Welcome 2013

    Posted by Donna Luce

It's that time of year again, where we make all those resolutions about losing weight, exercising more, eating better, working less, etc. I propose one fairly easy thing to add to that list, take a moment to be alittle nicer.
Lately I've been noticing a few people holding open doors and letting others go first. I even had my favorite coffee place give me a free coffee the other day. These seem like such small things, but go a long way in just making your day a little brighter and hopefully, paying it forward. Let's all slow down, take a breath and be alittle nicer to each other.
Get up a few minutes earlier, so you don't have to speed to work and be all stressed out. Slow down, take a breath, enjoy your family and friends.
We only get one ride on this Merry-go-round, so slow down and enjoy it. And while you're at it, be a little nicer to that person next to you and have a Happy New Year!

  • A Jump on the New Year

    Posted by Donna Luce

So, about a month ago, I decided I would try once again to lose weight. I figure as long as I don't stop trying, I will eventually get there.
My thought process was, if I start in October, maybe I will be down a few pounds before the Holidays and as a bonus, maybe have developed some better habits (eating and exercise). I usually try this every year at the beginning of the new year.
I am so happy to say, that I am currently down 6 lbs. and counting. I have a long term goal, but am trying to be patient and lose slowly and change my lifestyle.
So. let's see how I do as I finish out the year. Maybe I will use a little more restraint with the turkey and pie....we can only hope!

Queen is one of my all time favorite groups. I especially love "Under Pressure." Check out Freddie Mercury and band performing the song for the 1st time live in Montreal, 1981.

I got the best news today. After suffering through the last month and putting off paying a lot for my prescription, Singulair, it is now available in generic form and a much lower cost. Check it out! Good news for us allergy sufferers.

  • 5 Healthy Summer Tips

    Posted by Donna Luce

Here are 5 tips to enjoy a Healthy active summer according to Conscious Connection:

    1) It is crucial to drink plenty of water all year long, and it is even more important during the hot summer months. You can liven up your water by tossing in fresh clipped mint, slices of cucumbers, mangoes or citrus fruits. Coconut water is high in electrolytes and minerals to re-hydrate the body.

    2) Make a super shake each morning for breakfast blending 1 banana, 1 apple, a handful of blueberries, 1 cup coconut water, 1 tsp. of spirulina, 1 tsp. almond or peanut butter. This shake provides plenty of taste, fiber, protein, potassium, antioxidants and hydration to start your day. If you don't finish it all in the moring you can pour into ice pop molds and freeze to enjoy all day.

    3) Bike instead of drive. Save gas and get some exercise. Just 20 minutes of outdoor activity 4-5 days a week can make you feel better and improve your health!

    4) Allow yourself to let go and enjoy the beauty of the season by being spontaneous and open to changes of plans. Mindfully make it a point to lighten up your attitude and revel in how good it feels for both your body and mind.

    5) Soak up the sun. Vitamin D, which is essential for our physical and emotional health, is best optained from direct sunlight. We were meant to be active and outside where we could soak up these nutrious and healing rays. Be sure to use sunscreen with a lght coverup.

    Enjoy your summer!
